Eastman Kodak Health Imaging of Rochester, NY, has signed an agreement to purchase exclusive rights to Front Porch Digital's DIVArchive software in the medical imaging and information market. Kodak will pay $850,000 to Front Porch, with the New York City-based firm retaining all rights to DIVArchive outside the medical sector.
DIVA Medical is middleware software that will allow Kodak PACS networks to tie into any digital storage system in a hospital enterprise and intelligently manage content, according to Kodak. Kodak said that archiving middleware is a building block in its healthcare information systems strategy.
The software will be sold as a stand-alone product or in combination with Kodak's PACS networks. Kodak has already been offering DIVA Medical software to its PACS customers in Europe via a relationship between Kodak and Front Porch that was signed over a year ago.
The DIVA Medical software development team in Toulouse, France, will join Kodak Health Imaging, and will support and enhance DIVA Medical software as well as develop new medical archiving products, Kodak said. Selected Front Porch sales and customer-support employees for DIVA Medical will also become Kodak employees.
