Swedish PACS firm Sectra brings release 10 of its PACS network to Chicago.

Based on a new Web strategy for Sectra, release 10 can facilitate a full-scale, Web-deployable PACS network, according to the Linkoping-based vendor. The new version also allows upgrades to be performed automatically on workstations without user interaction.

In addition, a “roaming desktop” capability enables users to access to the same tools regardless of which workstation they log on to. Release 10, which offers concurrent user licensing, will be available in the second quarter of 2004.

Sectra will also put the spotlight on IDS5/mx.net, a general-purpose diagnostic station designed for full-field digital mammography (FFDM) applications. Utilizing the DICOM MX object for optimized mammography display protocols, IDS5/mx.net can include integrated CAD functionality and can also be used for viewing MR, CT, and ultrasound images.

Sectra will also debut IDS5/web, a workstation designed to provide Web-based image access at the point of care. The software, which can be used inside the hospital or by physicians located outside the firewall, includes progressive image compression, encrypted data transfer, and logging/auditing capabilities. IDS5/web will be released in the first quarter of 2004.
