SmartPACS adds StarPACS expansions.
SmartPACS will debut a number of new expansions to StarPACS, including its Web-based StarPACS Web offering. StarPACS Web is designed for enterprise distribution, entry-level PACS, orthopedic PACS, and teleradiology applications, according to the Irvington, NJ–based vendor.
Features include image manipulation tools such as zoom, pan, magnification, measurement, rotation, window/level, pseudo color mapping, and filters. StarPACS Web utilizes JPEG 2000 compression along with StarPACS viewing tools at the workstation. In addition, all prior exams are immediately available with associated reports for viewing and/or download, SmartPACS said.
Another introduction, StarPACS Orthopedics, is a work-in-progress extension of the firm’s StarPACS Enterprise package targeted for orthopedic applications. StarPACS Orthopedics allows users to select digital templates from a library of implant and prosthetic devices and overlay a digital image, SmartPACS said.
Other extensions include StarPACS Dental, designed for dentistry environments. The work-in-progress package includes functions to help clinicians interpret intraoral digital radiography images. Standard periapical view is automatically mounted to both the standard full-mouth and extra-oral series to allow for precise diagnosis, according to the vendor.
Rapidia Colon is a work-in-progress virtual colonoscopy software offering. A standalone software package, Rapidia Colon utilizes two-dimensional images of insufflated colons from CT or MR to create static and cinematic images, SmartPACS said.
