Healthcare informatics developer Misys Healthcare Systems will be showcasing a pair of PACS products from its Misys Optimum product line: its Image Management PACS offering and its PACS integration module.
Misys Image Management integrates image, voice, and radiology information to provide an integrated desktop workflow environment. The software's Web-based hierarchical architecture is scalable over any TCP/IP network using high-speed LANs, WANs, low-bandwidth modems, Internet, or virtual private networks (VPNs), and provides centralized and distributed data management across multiple servers, the Tucson, AZ-based company said.
The application has a customer-configurable server architecture for larger facilities and multiple-facility enterprises, as well as archive storage options that include hierarchical tape library configurations, and scalable network-attached storage (NAS) and storage-area network (SAN) configurations. In addition, image auto-routing to other DICOM applications and pull and prefetch technologies are included. The PACS has a CD writing option that allows images and reports to be burned onto a CD, along with an image viewer.
The PACS is built on an open architecture for DICOM storage and transmission, interfacing, and print, and offers a variable compression technology module. Site licenses are available for orthopedic templates as well as MPR, MIP, and 3D specialty applications, the company said.
The product, available worldwide, features unlimited viewer licensing that is based on procedure volume, enabling the application to scale to both large and small facilities, according to the company.
Misys will also be demonstrating its PACS integration module (PIM), released earlier this year.
The Misys PIM is a fully integrated Misys Radiology-PACS solution, providing DICOM services that eliminate the need for a broker between Misys Radiology RIS and any PACS vendor, according to the developer. The application enables bidirectional transfer of information between the RIS, modality, and the PACS via HL7 and DICOM.
In addition, the Misys PIM transmits patient demographic and scheduling data and procedure protocols to the modalities and PACS, and allows the modalities and PACS to transmit relevant data back to the PIM. This information can then be entered into or used to update data fields in the RIS.
The product, which supports DICOM, Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) guidelines, and HL7, is available worldwide, said Misys.
