Agfa wins Canadian PACS deal

Agfa HealthCare of Mortsel, Belgium, has been selected as the preferred vendor to provide PACS and archiving technology to two regional health networks in Quebec.

Agfa was named the preferred vendor for the RUIS Laval and RUIS Sherbrooke regions, a move that enables the company to begin negotiations for a binding multiyear PACS contract. Quebec has regionalized its hospitals into four university-based regional health networks, known as Réseau Universitaire Intégré de Santé (RUIS), with each of the four universities in Quebec serving as a central hub for each RUIS.

Agfa estimates that RUIS Laval and RUIS Sherbrooke combined account for approximately 3.4 million exams, or 40% of the exam volume in Quebec, and will be multimillion euro projects over seven years.
