Healthcare information technology developer Global Care Quest said it will soon release its ICIS PocketPACS, a DICOM image viewing application for handheld devices or mobile phones.
The product, scheduled for release in October, can take images from a DICOM-compliant PACS and send them to a handheld device or mobile smartphone via wireless Internet or high-speed cellular phone network. The system displays and manipulates x-ray images, CT scans, MRI scans, and most other medical imaging modalities, according to the Aliso Viejo, CA-based company.
The application features viewing functions that include zoom, pan, multislice scrolling, cine mode, window-level contrast adjustments, and image inversion and rotation.
ICIS PocketPACS can also be used as part of an ICIS mobile healthcare informatics package that provides access to electronic medical records, bedside monitoring equipment, physician's notes, and labs, the company said.
