Dear PACS Insider,
PACS and digital healthcare information management systems (DHIMS) have yielded a multitude of benefits in the practice of radiology. And the same success can be achieved in other departments that use images, according to Dr. Gary Wendt of the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
Expanding the vision of these systems beyond the radiology department can improve patient care and save money. It's also good for the environment, Wendt said.
He spoke during a presentation at the DHIMS 2008 meeting, sponsored by the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, NY.
