GE Healthcare reported second-quarter revenues of $3.37 billion, up 40% compared with the $2.4 billion reported in the second quarter a year ago. For the quarter (end-June 30), the Waukesha, WI-based division had net profit of $583 million, compared with $440 million last year.
In quarterly highlights, the GE segment increased total orders 42% to $3.5 billion. Excluding its newly acquired Amersham operations, orders grew 16% to $2.9 billion, driven by 55% growth in PET orders (to more than $120 million) and 21% growth in services (reaching nearly $1.4 billion), GE said.
GE said it also posted a 25% increase in China orders to $166 million, with strength in most modalities. In addition, the company said it realized strong synergies with key customers between GE diagnostic imaging technology and Amersham contrast agents during the quarter, and achieved double-digit growth in all biosciences businesses.
