E-Z-EM subsidiary AngioDynamics has introduced Morpheus, a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) device used to obtain short- and long-term peripheral access to the central venous system for intravenous therapy and blood sampling, according to the Queensbury, NY-based firm.
The device is constructed of Durathane material, which offers increased stiffness for ease of placement and improved patient comfort, AngioDynamics said. The material can also be cleaned with either iodine or alcohol.
Morpheus employs the firm's Flextone technology, providing a flexible catheter tip that helps minimize risk of vessel wall damage, AngioDynamics said. The device is available now for limited distribution in the U.S.
