The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) announced a new code of ethics for its members that make medical imaging or radiation therapy equipment.
The code represents the industry's intent to adhere to the government's antikickback and false claims laws. It gives guidance on handling entertainment, charitable contributions, grants, travel expenses for training, and other factors that might influence purchase of a vendor's product.
The voluntary code will go into effect January 1, 2005.
