ARCH-AI-accredited radiology group rejoins Strategic Radiology coalition

New Jersey-based University Radiology Group (URG) has rejoined the Strategic Radiology coalition of independent radiology groups, raising the coalition's privately owned member groups to 43.

URG, a 60-year-old radiology practice based in East Brunswick, employs over 180 board-certified radiologists who interpret over 2.1 million exams annually, according to a joint statement. The group serves hospitals, imaging centers, and outpatient practices while also fulfilling an academic mission as the radiology faculty at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ. Sandip Basak, MD, is chairman of the group's board of directors.

In 2024, URG earned recognition as an American College of Radiology (ACR) Recognized Center for Healthcare-AI (ARCH-AI) and accreditation in national quality assurance for AI in radiology, according to the announcement.

"Their membership strengthens our collaborative efforts to improve radiology practice operations and patient care nationwide,” said Strategic Radiology Chair and CEO Scott Bundy, MD, of Radiology Associates of North Texas.

Strategic Radiology provides its members with access to shared quality and safety initiatives, group purchasing, strategic partnerships, and proprietary services, including SR Health, an independent health insurance plan for members, and SR Teleradiology, according to the coalition. With the addition, Strategic Radiology unites more than 2,000 independent radiologists.
