Pacific Northwest imaging practice confirms patient data breach

An imaging practice in the Pacific Northwest has verified that a patient personal data breach occurred in January, according to a report posted April 17 by Cascadia Daily News.

Northwest Radiologists/Mt. Baker Imaging (MBI) confirmed that the leak potentially includes names, addresses, social security numbers, treatment information and health insurance information. The company first reported the problem in March, describing the issue as a "computer network disruption," and stating that it was "working with the FBI and third-party forensic specialists," Cascadia noted.

Northwest/MBI provides its clients with ultrasounds, MR imaging, CT scans, x-rays, and 3D mammograms. The Cascadia report noted that "impacted patients have yet to be notified."
