The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) has launched an online educational series to help create a culture of safety in the workplace.
"Safety Essentials" is designed as an overview of the fundamentals of patient and workplace safety in healthcare settings and details safety best practices in medical environments, according to ASRT.
Topics include workplace safety, risk management, patient transfer and transport, fall prevention, infection control, medication safety, and radiation protection. It also highlights patient care protocols and steps to prevent medical errors as outlined in Joint Commission performance requirements.
The 10 modules in the series are approved for Category A continuing education (CE) credit and are accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Radiologic technologists who successfully complete all of the modules will earn 14 CE credits and receive a document from ASRT recognizing their achievement.
