Standard Imaging, a provider of radiation calibration and quality assurance instruments, has acquired the assets of Nanaimo, British Columbia-based Masthead Imaging. The deal gives Standard access to the Canadian firm’s PIPSpro software package and QC-3 phantom, which is used with electronic portal imaging devices (EPID), said Standard Imaging of Middleton, WI.
The PIPSpro software displays, enhances, and analyzes portal images, and when used in conjunction with the QC-3 phantom can perform acceptance testing, commissioning, and routine QA on EPID units, according to the vendor.
The software provides a platform for QA programs in radiation therapy, as well as tools for writing and editing notes attached to images, the company said. Optional features include a dosimetry module for intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) patient dosimetry analysis using film, portal imaging, or computed radiography.
Masthead Imaging founder Dr. Shlmo Shaley, Ph.D., and several of his associates have agreed to serve as consultants to Standard Imaging. The transfer of development and commercial distribution of Masthead Imaging products to the Standard Imaging facility in Middleton, WI, will be completed by mid-summer, according to the firm.
