Dear Women's Imaging Insider,

Dear Women's Imaging Insider,

In this edition of the Insider, we turn our attention to the role of ultrasound in breast and gynecologic imaging.

First we have two studies from the Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, which examine the pros and cons of performing breast ultrasound with power Doppler. In the first paper, researchers in Philadelphia compared mammography with contrast-enhanced 2-D and 3-D power Doppler imaging for breast cancer diagnosis. In the second paper, a group from the University Hospital of Gazi in Ankara, Turkey, evaluated the usefulness of contrast-enhanced power Doppler ultrasound on the differential diagnosis of breast lesions. You can read the details here.

On that same subject, a group of surgeons from Columbia University in New York City said they believed that ultrasound was the right modality for imaging the postsurgical recurrence of breast cancer in the interpectoral lymph nodes. Click here to read this article.
