3-D software developer Vital Images has introduced version 2.5 of its Vitrea software. The release includes new tools for assisting physicians in treating strokes, placing stents, and planning for surgical procedures, according to the Minneapolis-based firm. It also includes advancements in speed and image quality.
A CT brain perfusion option assists radiologists in analyzing blood flow of stroke victims, while automated vessel measurements help physicians in characterizing the course and dimensions of diseased blood vessels, according to the company.
Point-and-click segmentation allows physicians to select and highlight, or "peel away," particular 3-D structures in the image. User-customizable visualization presets and higher-quality visualization capabilities have been incorporated.
