Varian Medical Systems and GE Medical Systems have teamed up to link a CT scanner and a linear accelerator in a single radiation oncology treatment room. The system, called EXaCT Targeting, features a HiSpeed scanner from Waukesha, WI-based GE and a Clinac accelerator from Varian. EXaCT Targeting, which also includes Varian's Exact Couch with Index Immobilization for patient positioning, has been installed at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
In other Varian news, the Palo Alto, CA-based vendor has announced a remote servicing capability for its oncology information systems. Using software from device relationship management software provider eMation, Varian will service its Varis Vision customers through the Internet, according to Varian.
