The use of advanced viewing tools promises to have a major impact on the effectiveness of virtual colonoscopy in years to come. A group from Japan is working on what could be a promising new technology that combines elements of multiple views into a single application.
That's according to a new article in our Virtual Colonoscopy Digital Community by staff writer Eric Barnes. He recently traveled to the Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery (CARS) conference in Osaka, Japan, where a group from the University of Nagoya presented its work on Navi-CAD, a new VC CAD exam tool.
The group believes Navi-CAD will save time in diagnosing colon disease, while improving lesion detection as well. The software includes a number of specialized views designed to make the tricky process of virtual colonoscopy interpretation easier to perform, including 3D endoluminal views, unfolded views, and multiplanar reformats. Other functions include real-time computer-aided detection and path tracking.
