Toshiba touts CT study at ISCT

Toshiba America Medical Systems said that a study to be presented on Monday at the International Society for Computed Tomography (ISCT) meeting in San Francisco found that its adaptive iterative dose reconstruction (AIDR) 3D software can lower dose while maintaining CT image quality.

The study, from researchers at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, KY, monitored patients who were previously imaged and then required follow-up CT exams after installation of the AIDR 3D software. When comparing the exams, initial findings suggest that AIDR 3D could significantly reduce dose across multiple CT exam types while maintaining high-quality images for diagnoses, according to Toshiba.

Toshiba said that in the past month, St. Elizabeth Healthcare has imaged approximately 1,500 patients using the company's Aquilion One CT scanner with AIDR 3D.
