Sectra launches radiation monitoring software

PACS firm Sectra is offering a new automated way to collect, analyze, and store patient radiation dose information with the introduction of DoseTrack at the 2012 RSNA meeting in Chicago.

DoseTrack automatically gathers and compares radiation dose values from radiological exams. It also enables monitoring of equipment to identify devices that expose patients to too much radiation, or to follow up on individual patients to avoid excessive radiation.

Sectra has worked with Region Skåne, a 10-hospital network in southern Sweden, to develop the software. The facilities use DoseTrack to monitor radiological exams from some 100 makes and models of x-ray and CT equipment, according to the company.
