Toshiba America Medical Systems has installed a 640-slice cardiac CT scanner in New York, one of only three in the U.S.
Toshiba installed the Aquilion One Vision 640-slice CT scanner at North Shore University Hospital, marking the first installation of the system in the Northeast. The scanner can capture an image of the heart in less than one heartbeat and costs between $2.5 million and $2.8 million.
Aquilion One Vision can be used in the emergency room to rule out heart attacks and other problems in low- to moderate-risk patients with chest pain, often avoiding the need for patients to be admitted to the hospital. It can also be used for neurological studies.
