Carestream Health has partnered with imaging device vendor CurveBeam to support and facilitate education and research for weight-bearing CT.
Weight-bearing CT allows the surgeon to view and measure anatomic abnormalities of lower extremities under natural load conditions in three dimensions. The goal of the collaboration is to spread the word among orthopedic specialists, according to the vendors.
The two firms will support the Weight-Bearing CT International Study Group, composed of orthopedic researchers from the U.S. and Europe. The group is working to create standardized protocols for weight-bearing CT measurements and analysis.
The companies' first joint initiative is to co-sponsor an evening scientific session during the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society annual meeting in Seattle.
