Interventional device developer Medrad is introducing its Avanta fluid management injection system and its Vanguard Dx angiographic catheters at next week's American College of Cardiology (ACC) exhibition in Orlando.
Avanta provides controlled delivery of contrast at low flow rates and low pressures in variable mode to enable injections of small vessels like the coronary arteries, according to the Indianola, PA-based vendor. The injector can also generate high flow rates and high-pressure injections in fixed mode for larger vessels and peripheral imaging needs, Medrad said. Saline can be administered at a fixed rate.
Vanguard Dx's RadiantFlow tip delivers contrast in a "cloud" intended to enhance mixing and distribution, the company said. Vanguard Dx catheters will be available in the 15 most common shapes and in two sizes: 4 FR and 5 FR, Medrad said.
