AuntMinnieTV: New firm debuts DR technology

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

A new company rolled into the digital radiography market at last month's European Congress of Radiology. Swiss startup Miradis exhibited at the ECR show for the first time, showing a DR detector based on charge-coupled device (CCD) technology.

Miradis is positioning its MDS 5000 as a lightweight and compact digital detector, measuring 21.7 x 21.7 inches for a detector with a 14 x 17-inch active area. The use of CCDs will enable the firm to offer MDS 5000 at a lower price than flat-panel DR systems based on materials like amorphous silicon, according to the company.

Miradis is planning to sell the unit both as a new system and as a retrofit for analog x-ray systems installed in the field. Learn all about the technology and the company's plans by clicking here.
