GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., will introduce the Definium series of x-ray systems at this year's RSNA show. The company will also feature the Innova CT enhancement, which produces CT-like images, to its Innova 4100 and Innova 3100 cardiovascular interventional imaging systems.

Definium AMX 700, GE's new mobile DR system for portable applications, provides high power, a large image area, and a user interface that shares a common platform with other GE digital products.

Definium 8000 is GE's new fixed-room DR system with room automation and DICOM-based networking. It uses a flat-planel digital detector and is available in one- or two-detector configurations (vertical receptor stand, with or without elevating table).

Definium 8000 includes auto image pasting that provides panoramic views of the anatomy, particularly the spine and legs, without visible seam lines.

Volume Rad is a new system that creates high-resolution low-dose images from different angles with a moving x-ray tube. Computer reconstruction provides cross-sectional slice images on a workstation.

Definium AMX 700, Definium 8000, and Volume Rad all have FDA clearance. Shipments of Definium 8000 are scheduled for November, while Definium AMX 700 will begin shipping by the end of this year.

On GE's vascular imaging systems, Innova CT makes 3D anatomical imaging more available in procedure rooms during image-guided intervention. Innova CT provides CT-like tissue visualization on Innova flat-panel interventional x-ray systems and with 2D fluoroscopy.
