Improvements in hospital spending helped medical imaging firm Analogic of Peabody, MA, post gains in its first quarter of 2011 (end-October 31).
The company posted revenue of $103.8 million, up 12% from $92.8 million in the first quarter of 2010. Net income for the first quarter of fiscal 2011 was $2.6 million; the company broke even in the first quarter of 2010, according to Analogic.
Revenue in the company's medical imaging business unit was $71.5 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2011, up 8.5% compared to $65.9 million in the unit in the corresponding quarter of 2010. The company attributed its revenue increase to market acceptance of its Flex Focus mobile ultrasound platform.
