Carestream Health has unveiled new software features for its DirectView Elite CR, Classic CR, and Max CR imaging systems.
Designed to enhance operations in intensive care units (ICUs) and pediatric imaging departments, the new capabilities include a companion image for pneumothorax visualization from the original exposure that accentuates the appearance of free air in the chest cavity, according to the vendor. The ICU package also includes tube and line visualization, as well as automatic display of images in their correct orientations.
Carestream said it has also incorporated pediatric image optimization and enhancement software that expands and integrates a range of seven patient sizes as specified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's new regulations for pediatric exams. In addition, a new pediatric quality package employs Carestream's Total Quality Tool for verification of image quality of CR cassettes, as well as administrative analysis and reporting software.
Other new capabilities include vendor-neutral exposure index values, special image processing for rendering of portable chest images, enhanced administrative and analysis reporting software, and multiformat print enhancements, the company said.
The features are now shipping with new systems and are available as an upgrade for existing customers, Carestream said.
