Del launches new x-ray systems at RSNA 2012

Radiography vendor Del Medical launched a range of new radiography products at last week's RSNA 2012 meeting in Chicago.

The company expanded its line of OTC12D radiography suites with two new entries, OTC12D-M and OTC12D-A. OTC12D-M incorporates tube-side touchscreen generator and positioning controls that give technologists the ability to focus on the patient, according to the company. It includes the company's EV800 elevating table with four-way float top and is available with Del's VS300 wall stand. A tilting version of the system is expected to be available in early 2013.

OTC12D-A includes automatic collimation and tube-side touchscreen controls for the generator and positioning. It also includes the EV800 table and VS300 wall stand; Del plans to offer vertical tube tracking on VS300 with OTC12D-A in early 2013.

In mobile imaging, Del has expanded its product line to include DelWorks DR Mobile, a compact mobile digital radiography (DR) system. The unit can be equipped with either a wired or wireless detector, and it sports a DelWorks DR workstation with a 19-inch touchscreen display that enables images to be reviewed seconds after exposure and then transferred to the hospital network.

Other features of the system include a high-output 32-kW generator, a telescopic tube arm with collimator handle "inching" controls for more precise tube positioning, an advanced charging system design for longer battery life, and dual-mode operation that enables switching between DR and computed radiography (CR). The system is expected to be commercially available in early 2013.

On the software side, Del launched EvoView Ultima, the latest addition to the company's line of PACS products. The software includes customizable reading protocols, visualization of 3D and multiplanar reformatted (MPR) images, and reporting, as well as a "smart fetch" technology that enables users to load images of interest while other images download in the background.

The software can be customized to the needs of a facility and comes in two standard configurations: EvoView Ultima PACS Lite for clinics and imaging centers with medium volume, and EvoView Ultima PACS Plus, which is designed for higher-volume facilities.

Finally, DelWorks PatientSide is a new multifunctional technologist console that is integrated to the tube stand. It's designed to improve technologist efficiency by enabling them to preview digital images within seconds after exposure without leaving the patient's side. Technologists can also review images from a current study and set generator parameters, reducing exam times.

PatientSide also features an anatomically programmed generator controller for faster technique selection and adjustment. The console is currently available on the Del Medical DFMT series of floor-mounted tube stands and will soon be available on other Del tube supports as well.
