Shimadzu Medical Systems USA has rolled out a new tomographic image reconstruction algorithm designed to enhance digital radiography (DR) orthopedic images that include implanted metal objects.
The firm's tomosynthesis metal artifact reduction technology, or T-smart, combines iterative reconstruction approximation and a metal-isolating algorithm to reduce metal artifacts from objects such as those used in orthopedics.
The T-smart option would be integrated into the dedicated image processing workstation for the Sonialvision Safire and G4 series of radiography/fluoroscopy DR systems, Shimadzu said.
