Orthopedic digital imaging developer EOS Imaging has completed six installations in the U.S. in the past month, increasing its installed base to 47, with seven additional digital x-ray units shipped and pending installation, the company said.
EOS did not name the facilities receiving the equipment, but said 60% of its installations are at centers that treat pediatric patients exclusively, including top pediatric hospitals, with the remaining 40% going to adult care facilities.
EOS CEO Marie Meynadier said the record number of installations reflects new investments in its U.S. marketing organization.
Significant dose reductions made possible with the company's EOS Micro Dose option are increasing demand for the product in pediatric settings, and the launch of EOSapps for exams and surgical planning is making EOS an important tool for adult orthopedic imaging as well, Meynadier said in a statement.
The EOS platform offers 2D and 3D full-body stereoradiographic images of patients in functional positions, the firm said, at radiation doses that are 50% to 85% lower than those of conventional digital radiography (DR) systems.
