The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) has released a new accreditation program for cardiovascular catheterization.
The program, developed in collaboration with the Alliance of Cardiovascular Professionals, Heart Rhythm Society, and Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, establishes quality metrics and provides an evaluation framework for a facility's cardiovascular catheterization processes, documentation, and imaging.
Facilities may apply for accreditation in the following areas:
- Adult diagnostic catheterization
- Percutaneous coronary intervention
- Valve interventions
- Structural heart interventions
- Complex adult congenital heart disease
- Pediatric cardiovascular catheterization
The IAC's Standards and Guidelines for Cardiovascular Catheterization Accreditation, which can be found on its website, is the basis for the program, the group said.
