Physician sues Medtronic for alleged patent infringement

Interventional device developer Medtronic is being sued by Dr. Jeffry Kreamer, a physician practicing in Palatine, IL, over the Minneapolis vendor’s AneuRx stent graft system.

The lawsuit alleges that Medtronic infringed Dr. Kreamer’s patent on certain devices and methods he invented for repairing weakened blood vessels using a stent graft, according to a release issued by Kreamer’s law firm, Bartlit Beck Herman Palenchar & Scott.

The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court in Wisconsin, seeks recovery of reasonable royalties and other damages and penalties in excess of $45 million, as well as an injunction against any further infringement, according to the law firm.
