Galil Medical announces CRYO-HIT system placement

Galil Medical announced that it will install a CRYO-HIT interventional MRI-guided cryotherapy system in Germany next week at the Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology (IDIR) of the Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena.

The unit is the second CRYO-HIT installed in Germany for breast cancer therapy applications, according to the company. Galil has placed a number of other CRYO-HIT systems in Germany for other applications.

Galil says CRYO-HIT is the only FDA-approved cryotherapy system for the interventional MRI environment. The device helps the doctor direct the cryoprobe to a tumor site under MR guidance, and monitors the freezing of diseased tissue in real time.
