Interventional device developer Boston Scientific has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market its FilterWire EZ embolic protection system for use in carotid artery stenting (CAS) procedures.
The device was cleared by the FDA in August 2004 for use in coronary saphenous vein graft interventions, and is a widely used embolic protection device for CAS procedures outside the U.S., according to the Natick, MA-based company.
