Interventional device developer MicroVention of Aliso Viejo, CA, reported that it has enrolled the 500th and final patient in the HydroCoil Endovascular Aneurysm Occlusion and Packing Study (HELPS) of its HydroCoil Embolization System (HES) for treating cerebral aneurysms.
The head-to-head trial compares results derived from HES to results from any approved bare platinum coil, the company said.
The clinical trial is based in the U.K., where it is sponsored by the Lothian Health Board and supported by the National Health Service (NHS). Physicians in the U.S., France, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, and Germany are also participating, MicroVention said.
