Interventional technology firm Medtronic has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Complete SE (self-expanding) biliary stent system, the Minneapolis-based firm reported.

The system is designed for use in the palliative treatment of cancers in the bile duct that can compromise digestion. U.S. sales will begin immediately, and the system will be available in various sizes, with diameters of 4 mm to 10 mm and lengths of 20 mm to 150 mm, Medtronic said.
