Interventional technology firm Medtronic of Minneapolis has established a grant for Teach for America, the national corps of college graduates who commit to teach in high-need public schools for at least two years.
Part of the $1.4 million, three-year grant will help grow Teach for America's national math and science initiative, which Medtronic provided initial funding for in 2007. Money will also be used to expand the Teach for America program to Minnesota and to support the program in Memphis, TN, and Jacksonville, FL, where Medtronic has facilities, the company said.
