Winston Wallin, former chairman and CEO of interventional technology firm Medtronic, died December 20 at the age of 84.
Wallin joined the Medtronic board of directors in 1978. Seven years later, he left his role as president and chief operating officer of Pillsbury to lead the Minneapolis-based firm. He served as CEO until 1991.
In his retirement, Wallin dedicated his time and resources to multiple philanthropic organizations and founded Wallin Education Partners, a partner to the Medtronic Foundation's Scholars program, the company said.
