Syncor to team with Ion Beam Applications

Radiopharmaceutical provider Syncor International has signed a letter of intent to partner with cyclotron manufacturer Ion Beam Applications to promote the production and distribution of F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) to nuclear medicine centers to the U.S. and other countries.

The firms expect that the agreement will result in new FDG production centers to support the manufacture and commercial distribution of the radioisotope in the U.S. and several other countries. Under the general terms of the agreement, IBA of Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium, will provide radioisotope-producing equipment, while Woodland Hills, CA-based Syncor will contribute radiopharmacy services.
