Linear accelerator manufacturer AccSys Technology has made the first commercial shipment of a mobile version of its Pulsar proton linear accelerator for the production of PET radioisotopes like FDG.
The Pulsar unit is housed in a mobile coach and is outfitted with a laboratory containing a shielded minicell for housing a synthesis unit for FDG, as well as a clean area with a class 3 laminar flow hood for dispensing.
The system is being shipped overseas for use at a hospital in the Middle East, according to Pleasanton, CA-based AccSys, which is now accepting commercial orders for the systems.
