Positron launches cardiac PET

PET developer Positron of Houston introduced a new PET camera targeted at cardiac applications at the 2007 American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC) meeting.

The company's Attrius system will carry a list price of less than $600,000, and will include software that enables users to conduct absolute coronary flow reserve estimates based on calculations developed by Dr. K. Lance Gould, a cardiac PET pioneer.

The company hopes to take advantage of rising interest in cardiac PET that it believes will develop due to an increase in reimbursement proposed to go into effect on January 1, 2008. The company expects to receive 510(k) clearance in the spring of 2008.

Positron also highlighted its Pulse CDC SPECT camera at the ASNC show.
