PET manufacturer CTI PET Systems, a subsidiary of CTI and Siemens Medical Systems, has signed a nonexclusive distribution deal with Marconi Medical Systems. The agreement allows Cleveland-based Marconi to market and sell Knoxville, TN-based CTI PET Systems products worldwide. CTI PET said it is also negotiating a new nonexclusive distribution agreement with Siemens, which previously distributed the products exclusively.
CTI PET has also introduced its latest PET scanner, Ecat Accel. According to senior vice president and technology director Dr. Ron Nutt, the scanner is more accurate than conventional PET scanning, and can reduce the time required for whole-body scans by up to one-half. The Ecat Accel sells for $1.7 million.
