The Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM) recently awarded $58,000 in scholarships and grants for molecular/nuclear medicine technologist students.
The awards include two Mickey Williams Minority Student scholarships, which provide $5,000 to a minority student entering or enrolled in a molecular/nuclear medicine technologist program, and a Professional Development scholarship, which provides $5,000 to assist a nuclear medicine technologist in pursuit of a master's or doctoral degree. The SNM also awarded 33 $1,000 Paul Cole scholarships, according to the Reston, VA-based society.
In addition, a Professional Development Education Fund research grant of $10,000 was given to Gregory Passmore, Ph.D., certified nuclear medicine technologist (CNMT), and associate professor of biomedical and radiological technologies with the School of Allied Health Sciences and the School of Graduate Studies at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
Three $10,000 Visiting Physician/Scientist Program grants from SNM, funded with support from GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., were also awarded. The grants provide for a nuclear/molecular imaging physician or scientist from North America to spend one to two weeks to lecture, consult, and train at one or more institutions in China or India.
The SNM awarded five fellowships, totaling $15,000, for students involved full-time in clinical and basic research activities in molecular and nuclear imaging. These fellowships provide $3,000 for each recipient, the society said.
