Alzheimer's Association funds PET scan study

The Alzheimer's Association has awarded a $2.1 million research grant to the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI). The funds will be used to expand the five-year study to include PET scans using Pittsburgh Compound B (PiB), according to the association.

Combined with its $1 million grant to ADNI in October 2004, the association has now contributed $3.1 million to the initiative. That marks the largest single investment in a research project in the organization's history, according to the association.
