Monrol to build PET centers in Turkey, Romania

Turkish radiopharmaceutical producer Monrol Nuclear Products Industry and Trade of Gebze has announced that it plans to build two new PET radiotracer production centers, one in Turkey and the other in Romania.

One facility will be located in West Istanbul, while the other will be headquartered in Bucharest, and will produce primarily FDG. The West Istanbul facility will serve the European part of Turkey and also meet the demand for PET radiotracers in the Istanbul area. The Bucharest site will serve Romania, Bulgaria, and other parts of the Balkans and Eastern Europe, and is Monrol's first facility producing FDG in Europe.

Monrol currently operates four PET radiopharmaceutical facilities in Turkey and one in the United Arab Emirates. The new facilities are scheduled to go online by the end of 2009.
