PET developer Naviscan has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with gamma camera probe developer Neoprobe to further develop Naviscan's patented imaging technology.
One patent now licensed to Neoprobe enables a gamma-ray detector or a gamma probe to translate gamma emission data into a 3D representation of a gamma-emitting source, such as a malignant lesion or tumor, Naviscan said.
Naviscan's positron emission mammography (PEM) technology features a PET scanner and biopsy-guidance accessories for breast imaging. The company plans to expand its platform to other applications, such the head, neck, and extremities.
