NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes has chosen Beloit, WI, as the location to build a $194 million facility to produce medical isotopes from molybdenum-99 (Mo-99).
Plans are for the company to break ground by the middle of next year and begin production in 2013 with the help of 12 linear accelerators.
The company estimates that the facility will be able to supply as much as 50% of the medical isotope demand in the U.S. when it is fully operational.
