The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission on October 27 renewed Atomic Energy of Canada's (AECL) license for its National Research Universal (NRU) nuclear reactor in Chalk River, Ontario.
The license is effective November 1 through 2016, according to a report in the Ottawa Citizen.
With the license renewal, AECL will continue to supply approximately half of the demand for the radioisotope molybdenum-99 (Mo-99) in North America.
