The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) has renamed its six accrediting divisions and implemented multiple improvements aimed at streamlining the accreditation process.
The following are the six new divisions:
- IAC Vascular Testing: Previously the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL)
- IAC Echocardiography: Previously the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL)
- IAC Nuclear/PET: Previously the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL)
- IAC MRI: Previously the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Magnetic Resonance Laboratories (ICAMRL)
- IAC CT: Previously the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Computed Tomography Laboratories (ICACTL)
- IAC Carotid Stenting: Previously the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Carotid Stenting Facilities (ICACSF)
IAC also said it's launching new programs and services, including integration of a comment period for new standards, live help as part of the online accreditation application, accreditation checklists for each modality, and consistently formatted standards.
In addition, IAC is implementing electronic upload capability through a PACS, research designed to validate the benefits and value of accreditation, and direct access to tools for accredited facilities to promote their accreditation, according to the commission.
More enhancements are also forthcoming, IAC said.
