SNM members approve name change

MIAMI BEACH, FL - Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM) members today voted in favor of changing the organization's name to the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging.

More than two-thirds of SNM members approved the name change.

The SNM's House of Delegates gave its endorsement to the name change at the winter meeting in January, setting up the membership vote at this week's annual meeting.

SNM President Dr. George Segall, chief of nuclear medicine service at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System, told AuntMinnie.com last month that the new name "accurately reflects the evolution of the field, as well as the society, to image physiology at the molecular and cellular level, rather than at the organ level, as we have done traditionally in the past."
